Hurricane season has just begun and already our southern states have been hit with two major storms. Having family in the evacuation area both times, gives us firsthand news of the impact. People displaced, mass traffic jams, loss of property ... loss of life. Our hearts and prayers go out to all the people and states affected.
The generous spirit of individuals, churches and organizations like Samaritan's purse, who race to the rescue are evidence of God's love. People helping people as the hands and feet of Christ is a monumental display of goodness and hope.
However, where disaster falls and good prevails, evil is lurking. Beware of scammers, the most recent is taking reservations for fictitious hotel rooms. Hundreds fell prey to this scam. Not only do they have to evacuate and secure another place to stay, they have to try and recoup their money at some point.

Community Blend is collecting new blankets and our Prime+imers group is making fleece blankets. If you'd like to join us to cut and tie blankets, we're meeting on Oct 16 @ 11:00 AM. Bring scissors. If you would like to donate a new blanket, please drop off at the church where we are located. Community Blend is inside The Chapel at Warren Valley, 384 Route 57 W, Washington, NJ. This collection will take place over the next two weeks. We will also send a financial donation directly to Samaritan's Purse.
Join the effort.
And continue to keep the victims in prayer.
