Study, Service and Solitude

Updated: Oct 22

The crunching of leaves and beautiful fall colors mark the start up of a new ministry year. We follow the school calendar for our programs using fall as a kick off and summer as a slower time. But less planned time is important throughout our days.

Keeping open spaces in our days/weeks leads to better productivity and mental acuity. Creativity blossoms when we allow some time to plan itself. The Holy Spirit can freely speak into our hearts at these times improving relationships, decision making, our prayer life, and our sense of contentedness.

Community Blend is rich with people from all walks of life. The programs we run reflect the variety of needs we encounter. Our goal, with compassion and discernment, is to look at the bigger picture and offer avenues that meet specific needs. Through study groups, service projects and a public cafe we address several areas.

Our outreach into the local community has taught us to be discerning. We've learned the importance of giving people help that will move them forward. But we are thankful to social service agencies who have the expertise to manage greater needs. We also help in surrounding areas and other states. Currently we are making and collecting blankets to send to North Carolina. Our first load has been delivered and we will continue this effort for a few weeks.

Blanket Outreach

We are meeting the next two Wednesdays to cut and tie blankets at the cafe from 11:00- 2:00. This week is a smaller group, to prep for Wednesday Oct 30th. This is when the official "Primetimers" group will meet to continue the assembling.

Blanket collection: New blankets can be dropped off at the cafe Wednesdays-Fridays 9:00-2:00 or any Sunday. A red bin is provided at the Community Blend table.
